The racecourse was founded by Flávio Chagas Lima, with the beginning of the works in 1965 and completed in 1967 in the then "Administrative District of Curitiba" (the municipality of Pinhais was emancipated in 1992). Its original features were an oval circuit with 3 curves and 2.7 km in length, when the first motorsport, motorcycling and cycling competitions were held. At that time, the circuit was called the Pinhais Autodrome.
